SilesiaThe steamship Silesia carried Johann Augustin and his friends Joachim Wilck and Hans Heydemann to America in 1883.She was the first of two steamships of this name owned by the Hamburg-America Line. She was built by Caird & Co and launched in 1869. 3142 tons, 340 feet long, one funnel, two masts, iron construction, screw propulsion, single-expansion engines, capable of 12 knots. She carried 90 passengers in first class, 120 in second class, and 520 in steerage, plus a crew of 120. In 1876 she was converted to compound engines. She later had several owners and, in 1899, was wrecked off Lobos Island on the River Plate in Uruguay, resulting in her being broken up for scrap.

All three Augustin sisters as well has their Miller half-siblings attended there.
The girl to the right in the doorway is Ida Augustin (later Mrs Ted Lueloff).
The Augustine-Miller FarmGreen Grove, Clark Cty, WI - About 1898This was the Augustin's family farm starting in 1884.
This building still exits on Cty Highway 'E' 2.5 miles south of the village of Curtis, WI. The left 1/2 of the building is actually a log cabin which became incorporated into the newer structure. There are supposedly five unmarked graves in the yard belonging to the family the lived there before the Augustin's.
S.S. Hammonia IIIThe Hammonia III was the vessel on which Joachim Augustin, his wife, their three daughters, and Sophia Marks immigrated to America, arriving 19 MAY 1884.Built for the Hamburg American Line by J & G Thomson, launched 13 SEP 1882.
3,969 tons, 373 x 45 feet, straight bow, 2 funnels, 3 masts, steel construction, screw propulsion, service speed 15 knots. Accommodation for 150 1st class, 100 2nd class, and 700 3rd class passengers. Maiden voyage 28 FEB 1883, Hamburg-Havre-New York. Last voyage 11 NOV 1889, Hamburg-Southampton-New York. Sold in 1889 and renaned Versailles. Scrapped in 1914.
